Haynes Avenue Bridge over Amtrak's Northeast CorridorThe Haynes Avenue Bridge Project in the City of Newark was undertaken by the New Jersey Department of Transportation to extend the life of this very tired 1,200 long bridge spanning Amtrak's Northeast Corridor and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey PATH Commuter Rail Line. The project intent is to address the hundreds of structural components of the bridge that are in need of immediate intention in order to reopen the bridge to traffic and establish a state of good repair until such time that the structure is replaced. IEW crews are performing work on the bridge deck, floor beams, 15 sets of piers, abutments, bearings, sidewalk and other components as directed. Since the bridge spans two heavily traveled railroads, all work has to be performed in a fashion to avoid rail outages.
