Alexander Road BridgeThe bridge carrying Alexander Road over the four rails of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor is the main east-west thoroughfare to the Princeton Junction Train Station, one of the business commuter rail stations in New Jersey. The bridge is referred to as an "orphan bridge;" that is, the bridge is not under the jurisdiction of any state or local government agency, railroad or the private sector. However, recognizing the importance of the bridge to the community and to thousands of rail commuters, the NJDOT has retained the services of IEW Construction Group to replace the existing bridge. The construction of the new bridge is being very closely coordinated between Amtrak and IEW. Once the new bridge is in place, IEW will also remove the old bridge.
